Manners

Manners 1: Essential Obedience and Companion Skills

Turn your dog into a well-behaved companion at home and in public with Manners 1. This class goes beyond basic commands like sit and stay, covering key skills such as focus, name recognition, reliable recall, loose-leash walking, down, wait, and leave it. Your dog will also learn to interact politely with other dogs and people in a fun, supportive, and interactive environment. Join us to build a strong foundation of obedience that will make your dog a joy to be around, wherever you go!

Manners 2: Mastering Obedience in the Real World

You’re making great progress, but your dog could use a little more consistency. If your dog knows basic manners but sometimes gets distracted by other dogs, birds, or even a blowing leaf, Manners 2 is the perfect next step. In this class, we’ll help your dog stay focused and responsive as we tackle advanced obedience skills in more challenging and active environments. Build on the foundation you’ve established and take your dog’s behavior to the next level, ensuring they listen and respond no matter what distractions come their way. Prerequisite: Completion of Manners 1 or demonstrated mastery of equivalent skills.

Manners 3/Canine Good Citizen

Advanced Obedience and Community Manners Take your dog’s training to the next level with Manners 3/CGC. This class is designed to strengthen your dog’s ability to stay focused and well-behaved in increasingly distracting situations, whether at home or out in the community. Building on the skills from Manners 2, we’ll work on advanced exercises such as extended stays from a distance, supervised separation, handling multiple distractions, navigating crowds, and maintaining focus in chaotic environments.

Successful completion of this course will prepare your dog for the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test, which you can take for a small additional fee. This class is also a key stepping stone for handlers and dogs aiming to pursue advanced titles or certifications. Prerequisite: Completion of Manners 2 or demonstrated mastery of equivalent skills.
